Fagor´s TRIACS Portfolio
TRIACs are solid-state semiconductor devices with five layers of alternating p-type and n-type material creating four p-n junctions distributed as two anti-parallel SCRs.
Unlike SCRs, TRIACs are bidirectional and current can flow through them in either direction when are triggered. This makes TRIACs very suitable for general purpose AC switching. They can be used as an ON/OFF function in applications such as static relays, heating regulation, induction motor starting circuits... or for phase control operation in light dimmers, motor speed controllers,...
Fagor TRIACs are available either in through-hole or surface-mount packages. The high commutation versions are specially recommended for use on inductive loads, thanks to their high commutation performances. Logic level versions are designed to interface directly with low power drivers such as microcontrollers. By using an internal ceramic pad, the J/P series provides voltage insulated tab (rated at 2500VRMS) complying with UL 1557 standards (file ref.: E320541 Vol3).
