08.07.25The CETACEO project moves forward toward the challenge of zero emissions in transport aircraft

On July 1, 2025, members of the CETACEO Consortium gathered at the facilities of the company AERTEC, located in the Aerospace Technology Park of Andalusia, Aerópolis, to share updates on the project's progress.
CETACEO is a research and development (R&D) project aimed at achieving a technological and knowledge level that enables the development of more efficient transport aircraft focused on reducing CO2 emissions. The project targets improvements to the aircraft platform itself, a shift toward more efficient systems, and the integration of low-emission propulsion systems.
The research objectives CETACEO aims to address include:
• Conceptual design of the aircraft architecture and aspects of flight physics.
• Platform systems at the levels of energy generation, distribution, and consumption.
• Integration of new powerplant concepts into the zero-emissions aircraft.
The consortium developing the CETACEO project consists of the companies AIRBUS Defence and Space, AERTEC, CESA, CT Ingenieros, Fagor Electrónica, and Kerox Technologies.
All the companies forming the consortium, coordinated by Airbus Defence and Space as the lead of the CETACEO project, met at the AERTEC Development Center facilities located in the Aerópolis Aerospace Technology Park in Seville.
